Terms of Service

Trekstasy ("the service") is a trip planner and gear organizer, developed and run by Ørneklo — product designers making outdoor gear and apps for hiking, camping, and fishing. "We", "us", and "our" mean Ørneklo.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Notice. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Trekstasy is intended for adults planning their own trips. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under the age of digital consent in your country, please use the service only with a parent or guardian's involvement.

Trekstasy is currently free and in active development. Features may change, and we may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We'll try to give reasonable notice of major changes, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability.

You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Give accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you suspect unauthorised access. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

To keep the service useful and safe, we may remove or disable any content, and suspend or terminate any account, at our discretion — with or without prior notice — where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken or the service is being misused. For serious or repeated misuse we may do so immediately.

Where it's reasonable and lawful, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put things right. Nothing here removes your rights under applicable consumer-protection or data-protection law.

You keep ownership of everything you create — your items, lists, trips, notes, messages, and images. You grant us only the limited permission needed to run the service: to store your content, display it back to you, and share it with the people you choose to share it with.

We don't claim ownership of your content, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models. You're responsible for the content you add and for having the right to use and share it.

The Trekstasy name, logo, software, and design belong to Ørneklo and are protected by law. Please don't copy, reuse, or reverse-engineer them beyond your personal use of the service.

Trekstasy includes a built-in gear catalog — a reference list of real-world products, so you don't have to type in specs by hand. These products are not ours. They're made and sold by other brands; their names, logos, and trademarks belong to those brands, and listing a product is not an endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship unless we say so. We don't sell any of this gear and earn nothing from it — it's there purely to help you plan. The specifications shown (weights, dimensions, and the like) are provided as-is for reference and may be incomplete or out of date.

Are you a brand or rights-holder? We're happy to add your products to the catalog free of charge — we have a simple submission tool built with smaller brands in mind, but open to anyone — and we'll promptly remove any product at the request of its brand or rights-holder. To point us at a specific item, include its reference tag — the small ID badge shown on every item in the gear catalog (click it to copy). Just email contact@trekstasy.com.

User contributions to the catalog. Logged-in users can offer their custom items to the catalog, and approved Reviewer accounts can include a rating, a written review, and a product photo with their submission. Everything is checked by an admin before publication. By submitting you confirm the content is yours to give and grant us the right to publish it: a published review appears under your username; if you delete your account it remains in the catalog without your name unless you choose to remove it in the deletion dialog; a published photo is donated to the catalog anonymously — it becomes part of the catalog and remains there even if you later delete your account (your private copy stays your own). This is also explained at the point of submission.

Sharing content with the community. Selected account types (Reviewers, Authors, admins) can publish some of their content — such as trip reports with photos — to the Trekstasy community, where signed-in members can browse it. Publishing is always an explicit, consented act: it creates a separate copy of the content, shown under your username, and featured items may also appear on our public pages. You can remove a published copy yourself at any time while the original exists. If you delete your account, published community copies remain — like donated catalog photos, they become part of the community — but your name is removed from them at that moment. If you want them gone entirely, unpublish them before deleting your account (the deletion screen reminds you), or email us and we'll remove them. This is also explained at the point of publishing.

More generally, if you believe anything on the service infringes your copyright or other rights, email contact@trekstasy.com with enough detail to identify the content — for a catalog item, its reference tag (the copyable ID badge on the item) is the quickest way — and your claim, and we'll review and act on it promptly.

The service is free of third-party advertising, and we never sell your data. You may, however, see Ørneklo's own outdoor products featured inside the app — camping, hiking, wildlife, fishing, and hunting gear only. These are first-party suggestions from us, not paid placements from outside advertisers, and they never involve sharing your data. (Our first products are still in development.) Seeing these in-app suggestions — and receiving any Ørneklo marketing emails — is opt-in and off by default; both are governed by the single "Product News from Ørneklo" setting, which you can turn on or off anytime in Settings.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ørneklo will not be liable for any damages, injuries, or losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service, including decisions made in reliance on its estimates. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your mandatory rights as a consumer).

How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms. In short: we collect the minimum, keep it in the EU, never sell it, and you can export or delete it at any time.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes we'll update the date above and notify logged-in users in-app. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.

You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to anyone else.

We may assign these terms and operate, or transfer, the service as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of Ørneklo's business or assets. If that happens, your data may move to the new owner — see "If the service is sold or transferred" in our Privacy Notice. You'll be notified in advance and can export your data or delete your account first.

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway and applicable EU/EEA law, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory laws of your country of residence.

The service is operated from the EEA. If you use it from elsewhere (for example, the United States), you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for complying with your local laws. For data-protection matters, you may also contact Norway's supervisory authority, Datatilsynet.
